The
following are the main issues of the conference held
just before the G8 Summit:
The
G8 Summit was the right occasion to draw people’s
attention to the problems linked to the globalisation
of the markets.
The meetings and the conference were held at the ancient
convent of "Santa Maria di Castello". This
is one of the most ancient churches in Genoa and belongs
to Genoa’s history and culture.
Here are the speakers, who took part into the conference:
Edward Goldsmith (The Ecologist’s founder, London),
Ivan Illich (philosopher, natural sciences’
scholar, he criticises the institutions, The Intercultural
Centre for documentation’s founder – CIDOC
– Cuernavaca), Hope Shand (Biopiracy’
s author, researcher, director of Ottawa’s International
Rural Advancement Foundation), Jean Marie Pelt (founder
and president of the Institut Européen d’Ecologie
– Metz, "Frankenstein’s garden"’s
author, Teodor Shanin (economist, School of Social
Sciences’ headmaster, Moscow), Massimo Angelini
(Ph.d. Rural history), Giannozzo Pucci da Fiesole
(researcher and scholar of the rural world’s
values, he invented the Bread Fairish), Fiorenzo Toso
(linguist, historian of Genoa’s language and
culture, Genoa), Luigi Veronelli (journalist, Ex-Vinis’s
editor).
