Shortcrust pastry baked in a wood-burning oven, Mescolanza (mixture) is a classic Genoese dry pastry with an imaginative shape of playing card suits. Soft and crumbly, these shortbread biscuits are perfect as tea cakes and for the most delicious breakfasts. Mescolanza, traditional Genoese pastries. We chose these shortcrust biscuits because they are still made with simple ingredients - just flour, sugar, butter and egg yolk - and cooked in a wood-fired oven as they once were. Mixing are the dry pastries perfect for the classic five o'clock tea but also as a tasty treat together with coffee at the end of a meal, a sweet, fragrant and soft caress.
